I heard it first from my liberal know-it-all co-worker today, Mel Gibson paid a visit to Oklahoma this weekend for sneak-previews of his new movie "Apocalypto". Apparently he was "disguised" in a mask and wig (weird but understandable). There is a trailer on the movie's website, it looks very intriguing. I noticed the release date is December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception - a coincidence?
This is not the first time Mel Gibson has made such a surprise appearance. During my visit with the Little Sisters of the Poor a few weeks ago, the sisters told me he came to their home in Louisville back in 2004 to show his movie "The Passion of the Christ" to the residents. He toured the home, signed autographs, and gave the sisters a check before he left. After the visit, Sr. Gonzague was interviewed by Paula Zahn on CNN and said she didn't know who he was because she doesn't go to movies or watch much TV.
