The Holy Rosary is one of the most popular Catholic devotions. When praying the Rosary, the idea is to meditate on the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, or Glorious mysteries as we pray each Hail Mary. This isn't always easy for me, sometimes I get distracted and my mind wanders, especially if I'm particularly anxious about something going on in my life. It is helpful to have some sort of meditation help when this happens. Or sometimes, we don't have time to pray the whole Rosary, in which case it is helpful to have a CD to pray along with while I'm working or driving.
I just got the CD Praying the Rosary with St. Therese of Lisieux today, which I noticed is produced here in Oklahoma City. Michael John Poirier leads the Rosary with his wife, Mary. As they pray, simple music (Gregorian Chant, keyboard, or violin) plays in the background, and each Hail Mary is preceded by a meditation or thought taken from one of the Little Flower's sayings. This is a 2 CD set, each CD begins with the opening prayers, then two sets of mysteries, then closing prayers at the end of each CD. The closing prayers include the Prayer to St. Michael, and an Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be for the Holy Father's intentions. The Rosary is presented beautifully. It is prayerful without being saccharine, as so many CDs of this type can be. It gets my thumbs-up!
